David is an award-winning marketing strategist with over 25 years’ experience of devising and implementing evidence-based marketing and business growth strategies for businesses ranging from start-ups to blue-chip multinationals, across a wide range of sectors in the UK and abroad.
Analytical, practical and commercial in his approach, he combines a broad mix skills with solid experience at board level.
David is highly experienced in designing and delivering marketing training courses, including at university level. For example, he has taught the Retail Marketing course to undergraduates at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
Having started his career with management consulting firms in London, he went on to gain in-house hands-on experience with Sony in Germany, then RBS and law firm Shepherd & Wedderburn. In 2006 he returned to consulting to run his own business, Wallace Marketing. It provides a range of marketing services, including research and insight, strategy development, implementation and training.
A highly rated speaker at marketing conferences and seminars (e.g. for the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Marketing Week), he has won several awards, including Grand Prix in the Royal Mail Scottish Marketing Awards and Marketing Director of the Year in the UK Legal Marketing Awards.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, he has an MBA from London Business School and an MA in German and French from Glasgow University.
David is also a Board Member of Includem, a cutting-edge organisation that supports disadvantaged young people. In addition, he is a Scotland Committee Member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany, and Regional Director Scotland of the Professional Marketing Forum.
